If you are looking for it, today's results are on the post below this one!
6 things, maybe 7, in no particular order:
1 - The much updated team for next Tuesday's match v Radley Seniors is on the Matches section of the website. The team for the Wychwood match on Monday 11th. May will be posted shortly.
2 - Now that 'Winter Rules' have been lifted, a Summer Eclectic will run from the beginning of May until the end of October. This year the committee have agreed to prizes being available for the best 2 net scores as well as the best 2 gross scores. John Alexander and Mike Smith recently played in the Buckingham Golf Club Seniors Open (their prize for topping the list last year). They finished a highly creditable 7th. (equal 5th. on raw score) out of 50 pairs. Their report back of an excellent all round day means that the same prize will be offered next year.
3 - Next Tuesday is subs day. Please take advantage of the lull in Brian's travelling to get up to date with your competition fees.
4 - Can anybody produce a quality heading for our new notice board in the changing room? Simply "Witney Lakes Seniors" would be appropriate but in a reasonable size and quality. As we anticipate having a notice board in the Sports Bar (as well as a new trophy cabinet) in the near future, two headings would be even better.
5 - Along with all others playing the course, we have been asked to be vigilant about repairing pitch marks on the greens.
6 - For the keen gardeners - Air Ambulance have their own Gardens Open scheme. This includes gardens which are rarely open to the public e.g. Frogmore House at Windsor. I have a booklet with details of the complete programme if you are interested.

Match v Drayton Park
Despite everybody's best efforts we narrowly lost today's game 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 (again). Well done to all those who took part, it was a very enjoyable occasion (again).
Results from today's (28th April) team Stableford roll-up competition.
FIRST: Paddy Marcks, John Robinson and Roger Laban [46 points]
SECOND: Doug Keen, Gerry Collier and Frank Hay [45 points]
A total of 9 teams took part in the competition with the scores ranging from 46 .. 38 so it was a fairly close battle.

Match v Radley - Tues.5th. May
The team for the above match is now posted on the 'Matches' section of our website. All of the people selected have previously told me that they are available for this fixture. Please check that this is still the case as a number of 'late adjustments' had to be made for the previous match. Thank you.

Seniors Matches
Firstly:- I am pleased to be able to report a win by 4 games to 2 at Naunton Downs today. This was a new fixture for the section and was a very successful event in all respects. We look forward to the return arrangement next year.
Secondly:- The team for the home match against Drayton on Tuesday 28th. April will be posted on the "Matches" section of the website later today. As of today 28 different members of the section have represented Witney Lakes in our 4 fixtures so far. This number should increase to 30 following the Drayton match.
Thirdly:- I will be asking members of their availability for the coming matches in May and June. I have really appreciated the support of so many members so far and I hope you will be as forthcoming with your skills in the future. Thanks

Naunton Downs and Hadden Hill
For team members playing at Naunton Downs next Tuesday 14th. April, please note that the first tee time is 09.30. In addition, there will be simultaneous starts from the 1st. and 17th. tees. Don't be late!! The dress code is 'jacket and tie', just like the old days!
The Hadden Hill match was a very enjoyable occasion, played in glorious conditions but with a poor result. Enough said - except, well done to everybody who took part today. Please feed back to me your view of the "breakfast start". This was an experiment by the hosts and they would like to hear of our opinion.

The Coming Week
N.B. "Greens Maintenance" is scheduled to take place this week.
TUESDAY 7th. APRIL
Because the majority of members are involved in the "away day" at Chipping Norton, there is not an organised competition for those 'left behind'. However, tee times from 07.48 until 09.00 have been allocated for members wishing to play at Witney.
THURSDAY 9th. APRIL
A reminder that the 'breakfast' match against Hadden Hill starts at 09.30. Team members are asked to arrive by 08.30 for the pre-match breakfast. There will also be some refreshment after the match when jacket and tie is not required. The A34 is currently restricted to one lane at the Didcot turn off and long delays are possible. Please allow plenty of time for your journey or/and travel via Wantage or Wallingford
For those not involved in the match, the roll up will be a stableford team game, with tee times available from 07.48 until 09.15. Vice Captain Barry will be the organiser for this.
FRIDAY 10th. APRIL
Leon Stanford's funeral takes place at Oxford Crematorium starting at 12.45. The Seniors Section has been asked to give a short speech regarding Leon's golfing life. I hope many members will be able to attend. Everybody is also invited to the Sports Bar at 14.30.
A final word! - SIGN UP SHEETS
Please remember that sign-up sheets are still displayed in the temporary changing room (it's not too far away). A number of members have missed out or been inconvenienced by missing a closing date. Closing dates are always a part of the sign-up sheet, the next one being Thurs. 9th. April for Round 1 of the Summer Stableford.
If you are able to, please add your name to the seniors team for 25th. May (Spring Bank Holiday Monday) fun game with the 'main club' and junior sections.
