Hi guys,

It’s the return of the e-mail.

Some of you will know Doug Keen is now on line and can receive and send e-mails.
Doug is getting his revenge in first and last night sent me 4 e-mails saying the same thing!!

A small but perfectly formed group of 22 golfers took to the course today in conditions that were pretty good for this time of year.

Congratulations to Declan Jordan came through victorious  with a pretty faultless round and I have copied his score from IG to show his Gross score of 71 which resulted in 2 things a nett 65 and a handicap revision from 12.3 to 11.1
That was 10 Pars and 1 Birdie. That puts Declan into our Masters Competition in October
Second was Cliff Smith, I should have changed his handicap in the annual review with absolutely no pars or birdies and third was myself with 8 pars.
Life’s not fair sometimes.

Mr Lund, if you play in a comp you have to enter your card into the IG system!!

Thursday 17 January 2019

So talking to those that played today it was sunny and cold, not a bad combination for mid January.

So today Texas scramble was won by Chris Hatherly, Eric Waring and Dave Byutler with 65.8 strokes

Second was John Alexander his brother Ken and Dave Williams the margin was very small I wont say how small or else it will just lead to a lot of recriminations and complaints about handicaps again.

Next Tuesday is the January medal which will be a roll up again and from now on Rod is back in the chair as I am taking a break from golf for a while.

So good luck to everyone and hopefully I should be back on the course around June

Tuesday 15 January 2019

Gentlemen I hope you all enjoyed the day, The weather was dull but not as cold as its going to be.

I played 9 holes with the Old Gits and Many Happy Returns to Gerry Collier 83 today. In fact I was the youngest by about 10 years in our group.
It was good to see Roy Williams in the sports bar today, hopefully he'll be back playing soon.

Results as follows

Thursday is a Texas Scramble and the start sheet will be up on the board some time tomorrow.
Please draw for teams as we have in the recent past and hopefully I will see you at the end of the round

Kevin

Monday 14 January 2019

So its going to be dry tomorrow but getting colder as the week goes on.

Tomorrows sign up sheets are in the changing rooms so you early birds should be OK.

Its a Stableford and results can go into the computer please but don't panic its a Non-Qualifier.

Thursday 10 January 2019

I think there are 3 games outstanding in round 3 of the UBoat due to play next Tuesday. For everyone else its a Stableford Roll Up

If you want to pre-book a tee time let me know.

Kevin

I hear it was pretty cold out there today but well done to all who managed to get round

Results

15 played from Div 1 and 12 from Div 2 so the division boundaries are holding up but are still under review.

Well played Cliff but not a great move just before the annual handicap review

Small Hiccup in the Timms household over the last two days I'm afraid, we have some builders working in the house and all the furniture was moved around to make a space for them and I lost the cards from last Tuesday!!!

However peace is now slowly regaining a foothold and I have found them (in the car all the time)

So the result from Tuesday was
First with 66 points (on countback) Brian Rollerson and Jim Whalley
Second Rod Rapley and Bob Kirkwood.

There were 6 pairs coming in at par or better so a good standard of play

You may have noticed I'm not there today but hopefully all is going to plan and I will see you all next week

Good Morning

Yes Please Golf in Witney Lakes is going to close. A great shame, but unfortunately it is not commercially viable for John Strode to continue t operate from Witney Lakes, due in no small way to the location of the premises

The timing is at the moment uncertain, it could be a couple of weeks or a couple of months.

I would advise any members with vouchers to use them as quickly as possible.

Yes Please Golf will still have their outlet at Bicester at Unit 3 Churchill Rd, Bicester OX26 4PZ and they do have an online store, http://www.yespleasegolf.co.uk/, where the vouchers can be used

Obviously we will not use the Yes Please Golf as a vehicle to pay any outstanding prize monies

Members can move to having winnings allocated to their Club Card, where from this January any winnings will benefit from an additional 15% levy. A small but albeit useful benefit.
In addition we also will continue at present with the M&S vouchers.
James will be in touch with those who need to change where their winnings go, or please e-mail him, address above

The Club, will begin to stock a wider range of golf necessities such as gloves, balls, tees etc at reception. My understanding is that the monies on the Club Company card can be used to these purchase items  at reception. I am sure Robbie will advise if that is not the case

Further updates will follow as and when I receive them

Regards

Rod

Tuesdays Game is a Team Game

Chapman Format" is the name of a 2-person team Golf Game

Both golfers on the side hit drives; Each plays the other's ball for the second shots; The best of the second shots is selected, and from there the two partners play alternate shot into the hole.

Scoring is the total number of strokes played with the ball that ends up being holed

The partner with the lower course handicap gets 60-percent of that number, the partner with the higher course handicap receives 40-percent. Combine the two results for the team's course handicap

So I will be there soon after 8 with the start sheet and we can draw teams in the same way we have before, so two teams of two on each Tee time

see you there tomorrow Kevin
