Slow Play

We are being plagued by slow play yet again.

I would like to remind all members that the game is for the enjoyment of all and it is only fair to all if the game is played in a friendly and considerate manner.

I re-publish here some reminders on how to speed up your play. Please take notice.

How To Avoid Slow Play

We try hard to avoid slow play. Here are our rules.
1. Be at the first tee at least 5 mins before designated tee off time. Expect to go off earlier [even if it is often later].
2. Keep up with the group ahead of you and try to speed up if you fall behind.
3. If in doubt play a provisional ball.
4. Walk up to your ball considering your next shot have a practice swing or two etc, - then do it. Finish your conversation after you have hit the ball and as you are walking towards your next shot.
5. Watch the ball flight of your playing partners shots to spot the likely landing place.
6. If you are behind others in your group who might be in the rough play your 'good ' ball first if safe to do so and then help them find theirs.
7. You have 5 minutes to find your ball having arrived at the area you think it landed. When playing in a 3 or 4 ball it is not 5 minutes looking time each but 5 minutes from the point you arrive at where it is believed to have landed. Always go to your ball first unless yours is obviously 'safe'.
8. Call people through if they are waiting - in fixture matches too - even if they are not part of the match/competition.
9. Around the green park your trolley on the exit route to the next hole.
10. Repair pitch marks as you study your putt.
11. Study your chip/ putt whilst others are doing theirs.
12. Mark your ball position and line up your putt in your mind. Practice the strength required to hole it and go for it.
13. If you are playing STABLEFORD and can no longer score pick up.
14. Score your card on route to the next tee.
15. Holes 8 and 12 are call-up holes. If you see people on either of these tees as you approach the green, park your equipment on the exit route, stand safely to the side and invite the following group to play up before you and your group put out.

Steve Putt Trophy

I appear to have made a mistake with my planning for July. It had been decided by the committee to hold the event on the 24th July but I published it as occurring on the 8th. I confirm that the Trophy will be held on 24th as originally planned and a Roll Up individual qualifying stableford will be held on the 8th. A new sign up sheet for the 24th will be placed on the notice board.
