Good
afternoon,
Firstly my
apologies for the mist and Fog, I should have organized the weather better!
So a change
in the game on Monday which will now be the Monthly Medal instead of the Green
Keepers Revenge
There will
be a new roll up sheet in the changing room for this.
A couple of
other points whilst I have your attention.
Slow
Play
I have been
asked to re-iterate a couple of points
Ready Golf
– If you can go to your ball and not be in the way of your playing partners
shot please do so.
You should
while waiting for your playing partner to play his shot, check your distances,
select your club, have your practice shots and be ready to play asap after your
PP has played
Always move
your trolley or bag to the side of the green you will depart from or high up on
the other side so you can depart the green from the back.
Do not
leave your bag, trolley at the front of the green
Whoever is
ready to tee off first does so, not the player with the lowest score on the
last hole.
If you have
lost a hole to the group ahead and are holding up those behind, play your tee
shot, g, go to your ball s and wave the players behind through
If you are
playing with someone not upholding these points, please tell them and if you
get a rude answer, let me know.
We not
wanting a race around the course but a round played at a sensible pace that
avoids those behind have to wait on every shot which can be disruptive to a
players round
New
Score cards – Distances & Match Play Stroke Index
You will
notice in the next week or so new cards
The first
point is that the distances have be remeasured and used for these new cards
The second
point is that the Match Paly Stroke Indexes have been changed, apparently we
were not complying to the Golf England recommendations
These will
apply to all Matches and games such as 4 Ball better Ball competition and our
Summer Knock Out and U-Boat.
Major
changes are the hardest hole for Match Play is now the 7th not the 3rd
NB THOSE
IN THE U-BOAT FINAL MUST CONTINUE TO USE THE NORMAL STROKE INDEX THAT WAS USED
FROM THE START OF THE COMPETITION, SO STROKE INDEX 1 WILL BE THE 3RD
Matches
The sheets
are up for the next 3 matches, Haddon Hill - Home, Naughton Downs - Away and
Drayton Park – Home
Please note
preference for Away Matches will be given to those playing Home Matches and
those participating in a certain number of matches.
So for the
prized away games for example Stowe Away if you have not played in any games or
any Home games, you might not be selected.
Hot
Toddy 19th March
The sign up
sheet is now on the board

Hi all
Todays
Events
U-Boat
John Watt and Jim Whalley beat Peter Burdon
and Martin Buckingham, despite Peter scoring a net 69, it just shows how useful
a high handicap is in this competition
However 2 lower handicappers Chris Hatherly
and Mike Smith the reigning champions, I understand overcame Nigel Pitchforth
and Peter Cartwright on the 20th hole
Stableford
A return to winning ways by John Alexander,
albeit with a 16 handicap!! With 36 points on Countback
Twice nice birdies on the 8th
and 18th certainly helped.
Second again was Mike Twyman with 36 points,
but unfortunately for Mike a 14 handicap, and only a par of the 18th
Thursday
14th Feb Monthly Medal
The sheet is already up in the changing
room with 16 names already on the list
So the first available tee time is 9.12, so
no need to rush to the Lakes on Thursday
Tuesday
19th Feb Green keepers Revenge
– Texas Scramble 3 ball game – Cards to be
shuffled and picked when there are 12 players present
On the Front 9 Martin Burbanks will be
placing obstacles around the games to make this a little bit more interesting!!
Thursday
21st Feb Eric Clack Trophy
Our first Boarded Trophy of the year
Its yellow tee, Stableford and not a
qualifier, just the sort of competition our treasurer Brian Rollerson loves
A great chance to get your name on the
board and an entry into our Master Trophy.
It’s a sign up game!!
The list is coming down tomorrow.
If anyone want to play and cannot get to
the Sports bar before 2 tomorrow, please e-mail me your entry before close of
play tomorrow.
Late entries will not be accepted

Hi all
Please note
that I will be away on holiday from 21st February to the 13th
March
Our Vice
Captain Rod Bools will be looking after matters for the Eric Clack Trophy on 21st
Feb, Winter Stableford Round 5 26th Feb, and the Prize Giving and
Chapman Format on 28th Feb.
Cliff Smith
with then look after the Bowmaker on 5th March, Winter Stableford R6
on 7th March and the Monthly Medal for the 12th March
Change
to competition fees
Following
our recent committee meeting there was agreement to increase the main
competition fees to £3 and the Championship to £4 from 1st March.
Main
competitions are Medals, Summer and Winter Stablefords and Trophy Board
competitions
Roll ups
will continue to be £1.
Looking at
all our competitions, 64 remain at £1, a total of 35 increase by £1
The
proportion of prize money will still be 50% or as near as possible until there
are more than 35 players for a competition.
The reason
for the changes were
- Provide support to members attending Away days
- Provide refreshments at the Prize Giving Days
- Additional prize monies
- Additional spot prizes to share the spoils around
I have
arranged for 2’s competition to be in place for the £3 competitions from the 1st
March with a £10 prize pool to be split between any players scoring a Gross 2,
no handicap allowance to apply..
Looking
over the last 20 competitions only 3 times did more than one player score a 2.
If no-one
scores a 2, which in the last 20 competitions happened 8 times the prize money
will roll over onto the next £3 competition with a £20 prize pool.
We will see
how this works for the next couple of months and if it is not successful,
change it to another format.
Make sure
you circle the 2 on your score card.
I will be
back for the match at Lilleybrook on 14th March for which we have a
full team and will e-mail the players separately on this.
We also
have a match on 21st March at Meyrick Park, Bournemouth Away for
which I am 1 player short and this can be a player up the a 35 handicap, so let
me know if you want to play for the team.
Finally we
play Kirtlington on 26th March again we have a full team.
First Tee
times will revert back to 8.00am from 2nd April for the Summer
Stableford R1. Robbie please note

Good afternoon,
As most of you know the course is currently
closed.
I spoke to Martin Burbanks this afternoon
and he is hopeful that part or all of the course will be open tomorrow, if the
current temperatures continue.
The Sports Bar is currently closed and it
is possible it will remain closed until Thursday, we can of course use the
Bistro.
I won’t be there tomorrow so if someone at
the end of the round collect the cards and put them in the cupboard under the
bar I will collect these on Thursday.
If the course is open the game tomorrow is
The If Only game where 2 of yours scores can be removed and the handicap is 50%
of your playing handicap.
The start sheet is in the changing room
The start sheet for Thursday Eric’s game is
also up in the changing room.
Does anyone have the cards for last
Thursday’s game, let me know
Regards
