The week ahead ...

On Tuesday 3rd May Vice-Captain Kevin is leading Team Witney to battle against the good folk at Radley College. Meanwhile back at home I shall be looking after the roll-up which is a Bowmaker Team game.

On Thursday 5th May we have the Monthly Medal. Please see tee times on this website.

Our guys did well ...

Four of our seniors won an entry into the Buckinghamshire Open. The day out is described by John Alexander as ...

"Just to let you know how the Witney team did at the Bucks open yesterday. Terry Edmunds and I came joint 5th out of 52 pairs with 39 points just three behind the winners with 42.

Kevin Timms and Barry Lund had 27 points. We all had a lovely day even though it was cold and windy. The course was good, the food excellent and the 'London Pride bitter' a real treat.

Our thanks to the committee for putting up the prize."

The week ahead ...

A sign-up sheet will appear on the notice board next week for all those interested in taking part in a Summer Knock Out Tournament. This is a singles match-play game off the yellow tees. The tournament will be run by James Barnatt and Cliff Smith. All those interested please sign up asap.

Tuesday 26th April. We have a HOME match against Drayton Park. The team is shown under the Matches tab. First tee off is 10:30 please be there about 9:45 ish for coffee/tea and biscuits. The meal is honey roast ham with parsley sauce and seasonal veg followed by pear and almond tart with double cream, all washed down with a glass of wine and coffee and mints after the meal. After-match dress code is smart-casual.

For those not playing in the match Gerry will be looking after the Roll-up which is a Teesing Stableford TEAM game (teams of 3 players).

Thursday 28th April. This is a four-ball-better-ball Stableford competition. Please sign-up by Tuesday 26th before I take the sheet down.

One game in the U-Boat semi final will also take place. The players are:

The remaining U-Boat game between P. Marcks and J. Watt vs N. Pitchforth and D. Long must be played BEFORE Tuesday 17th May.

The first round of the Summer Stableford postponed today will be played on Thursday 19th May. We hope that the course might have started to dry out by then!

Fifteen players turned up for the roll up, yet only nine players (3 teams) finished. Since this is a stroke play game the lowest score is the winner. If there is a tie, the team with the most nett birdies or better is used for count back.

In the fixture against Hadden Hill at home, team Witney won 5 - 1. A big thank you to all who supported team Witney.

Next week Brian has asked me to collect the subs for April, and I will be compiling a list of those seniors willing to play in fixtures with other clubs.

Yesterday we had the first Away Day of the season. A big thanks to Malcolm for arranging the event and the weather!
