Good Evening all,

As I handed Geoff (Victor Meldrew) Mills the marker for the nearest the pin on the 15th, he said it would be difficult to reach the green off the whites on the 15th.
Well a sweetly struck 5 wood, proved Geoff was wrong on that one.
In addition Geoff also won the competition, so watch out for a smiling Cheshire cat grin when you next see him.
John Watt continued his rich vein of form in winning Division 2.

Hi all

So no-one really gancied getting drenched today. So we sat in the newly refurbished Sports Bar and watched New Zealand beat England in the 20/20

Start sheets have been added to the Tee Times tab for the Winter Stableford R5 on 20th February and for 22nd February for the Eric Clack Memorial Trophy.

As usual I have tried to mix and match people to have some different player combinations in the 3 balls.

Thursday is the Monthly Medal which is a Qualifier off the White Tees

Don't forget to swipe in on the Golf Terminals to enter the competitions

Some players are thinking about staying over and playing again the following day, if you are one of those let me know and I will let Meyrick Park know

It makes sense to share cars on the journey there and back and I will put a sheet on the notice board for those that are willing to drive and take someone to add the names, or alternatively talk to each other to sort it out and let me know

Thanks

Future Competitions

From Tuesday we are back in the Sports Bar where the terminal for importing our scores is.
After Tuesdays Fun Eric's game we move into more serious games.
So I have set the games up on Intelligent Golf.

Please remember to swipe your cards both at the Front Desk and the Golf Terminal in Reception from Thursday onward to ensure you are entered into the competitions

Good Morning

Tuesday 12th February's game will be Eric Games as chosen by Dave Butler, however Dave wants to play the front 9 as a Stableford and the Back 9 as Stroke-play

Eric's Competition

This is an Individual competition.
With 1/2 handicaps on each 9
The front nine holes are played stableford
The back nine holes are played stroke-play

At the end of the game the score recorded is the difference between the front and back. Par would be nett 36 - 18 pts = 18

Thursday, 8 February 2018

Good Afternoon,

A good mornings golf with the temperature a little better than Tuesday

The overall winner was Richard Gent just ahead of Ken Gregory.
They were both tied on 40 points, their back 9, back 6 and back 3 were identical, so we had to go to the highest stableford on the hardest hole where Richard scored 3 points to Ken's 2.
The rules for this are shown below

With the numbers playing today we have a first and second in both divisions.
Please note Division 1 is handicaps 21 and below and Division 2 is 22 and above

Division 1
1. Ken Gregory - 40 points
2. Mike Twyman - 36 points

Division 2
1. Richard Gent - 40 points
2. John Watt - 35 points

Winner of the bottle of wine on the 16th - Chris Hatherly

COUNT-BACK

http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
Typically, Count-Back is invoked only if there is a tie among the competitors finishing with the most points. Ties between (say) fourth and fifth place finishers remain ties and their spoils are equally divided. However, Count-Back may be used to resolve all ties if this is established by the competition officer before the event.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
To perform a Count-Back, sum up the Stableford Point totals for everyone sharing the tie over the final nine (9) holes of the event. If this results in a single competitor having the largest point total, then he/she is the victor and the process stops.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
If multiple competitors share the largest point figure after the initial Count-Back, then continue the Count-Back process by eliminating any competitors whose back-nine totals were less than that largest amount.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
Then perform a Count-Back of the remaining competitors over the final six (6) holes played. If this fails to resolve a single victor, then repeat the process over the final three (3) holes. If still necessary, then resort to the final hole.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
If an outright victor cannot be resolved after all four stages of Count-Back, the process continues as follows:
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
1) Best Stableford score on the single most difficult hole of the course (to make par). This will be the hole designated with a "1" in the line bearing the label "HCP" or "Handicap".
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
2) Best Stableford score across the three (3) most difficult holes of the course.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
3) Best Stableford score across the six (6) most difficult holes of the course.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
4) Best Stableford score across the nine (9) most difficult holes of the course.
http://echo.leaderboard.com/cleardot.gif
If there's still a tie after all eight stages of Count-Back then you'd simply arrange a fight to the death using broken golf club shafts because you're pulling my leg. Nobody has a tie after all these machinations. It just doesn't happen.
