Seniors Championship

Please see below the starting grid for Tuesday’s first round of the Seniors Championship

There are a couple of things to advise you of first.

YES PLEASE GOLF
On Tuesday Yes Please Golf will run an activity on the 6th Hole.
Craig will be on the 6th Tee where you can purchase in cash a voucher from £5 to £100 (if anyone has £100)
You pay for the voucher before your tee shot
If the player ball finishes on the green the voucher amount is doubled, so £10 becomes £20 .
If the green is missed you keep the voucher for the £10 you paid and can spend it in Yes Please Golf
So You CANNOT lose !!
It’s a chance for you to double your money and potentially get something half price in the shop .

This ran in the Main Club Championship and was very successful, so I have asked them to do it for us
If you need a glove, buy a voucher for £10 and if you hit the green you can buy 2 gloves etc

FREE REFRESHMENTS ROUND 2 THURSDAY 5TH JULY BETWEEN 12 NOON AND 2PM
Brian has agreed that we can use some of the money in the Seniors kitty to provide Free Refreshments after Round 2 of the Seniors Championship

Any questions let me know

The course is in great condition but quite difficult due to the extra run on the fairways and unusual bounces and the very fast greens

See you Tuesday

New Members and Summer Stableford

I am delighted to tell you that we have four new recruits to our Seniors membership.

Peter Cartwright has been playing with us for the couple of weeks and has put all his cards in and is frustratingly waiting for his handicap to be sorted.
Bill Taylor who used to play at  Chipping Norton until about 7 years ago has had a couple of rounds.
John Hardy, turned up for his first round on Thursday and had the pleasure of seeing a Ron Deacon masterclass.
Another Peter, Peter Powell (not that one) will be joining us next week on Tuesday
There is another potential new senior Roger McLeod, who is a mate Mike Twyman, we are looking forward to seeing you Roger

Welcome all, I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms by the players and I am sure you will enjoy the golf and friendship

Tuesday 26th June - Summer Stableford R3

So into Round 3 of 6.
We have had 46 players so far in the competition. But a lot of players have only played 1 match including len Gough with 37 points and Mike Twyman on 34 points
The top 10 are currently as below.
So still a lot to play for.
Don’t forget that the Summer Stablefords count towards the Eclectic competition.
The winner of the Gross and the net get a paid entry to a pairs competition at another club
Current leader of the Gross is tony Ward and the leader in the net is Len Gough

Home Match versus Bicester

Another great team performance in our match against Bicester.
We had a 6-0 victory, our second whitewash in a row.
We have now won 40 of the games in this matches and lost just 11. A fantastic effort from all who have been involved
What makes this particularly pleasing is that we had two people playing their first match of the year.
First a huge thanks to Barry Lund who answered the call to step in as a last minute replacement, when there was a deafening silence from all sides to my request. Well done Barry!
And to cap that of Barry and Julian Marks had the best result of the day a 7&6 victory
The second new player was Phil Smart who has recently joined us from Carswell, Phil had the dubious honour of playing with me.
