We have now finished our main matches, I thought I would send out the match facts.
Although there is a return Home match against Meyrick Park on Tuesday 16th October who are bringing 14 players. More on this soon
The good news was that we won 12 of the 19 matches played and drew I losing 6 matches.
We won considerable more games across those matches as well, winning 68.5 games (a draw is 0.5) and losing just 43.5 games
A big Thank You to the 36 players who took part in the matches,. This was down from 40 players last year. We had 9 new players to the seniors who played in the matches.
This helped us select a team more easily than last year.
Special commendation to Mike Twyman who played in 17 of the 19 matches, just pipping me on 16 matches and Alan Lake on 14.
Regarding the results if you exclude players who played less than 3 matches,Tony Ward had the leading win ratio, he played in 6 matches winning 5 of them giving him a win ratio of 83%, just ahead of Malcolm Saunders who played 9 matches winning 7 , losing one (when he partnered me at Kirtlington) and drawing 1 giving a 78% ratio the exactly the same as Peter Burdon
Again excluding those who played less than 3 matches, if you allocated a point to every game won and a half point for those drawn, then Mike Twyman headed the list scoring 12 points ahead of Alan Lake on 10.5 and myself also on 10.5
So the team is in good health, although we will need more of our old stagers and new recruits next year when we will have another 3 matches in our calendar
