Hi,

We entertained a sister golf club Meyrick Park yesterday, repaying the hospitality they showed us earlier in the year when we visited them in Bournemouth.

They had a man short, however Malcolm stepped in the fray to partner their captain

The result was an honourable draw 3-3.

Mike & John Lost 1 down – they were Dormy 4  and nearly pulled off a draw

Glyn & James Won 4&2

Tony & Richard Lost 2&1

Bob & Graham Lost 4&3, the pair they played scored 49 stableford points between them

Hi all,

This evening the Witney Lakes General Manager has sent out an e-mail and has put up posters around the Resort regarding the Presentation extravaganza.

I do hope that the Seniors element of Witney Lakes Resort will turn out in force to demonstrate that we are a very important part of the Witney Lakes Golf Club.

It will be good to celebrate all of our Trophy Winners this year.

Both the e-mail and the poster will say that tickets are to be purchased at reception.

We are not paying this way!

There is a sign up sheet on the notice board with the menu choices and I am pleased that people have began to put their names on this sheet already.

Myself and Brian will collect the money from those attending and pay Witney Lakes 1 cheque for all of the Seniors.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control time is tight, so please either sign up to the sign up sheet on the Seniors notice board, or e-mail me your details for tickets required and menu choices from the follow by Friday 26^th October. Also let me know who you want to sit with.

Good Evening,

Witney Lakes Seniors Dinner & Presentation Evening 7.00 pm for 7.30pm Saturday 3^rd November

This year there is a change to the normal arrangements, the dinner will include all 3 sections of the Witney Lakes Golf Club.

There are a number of benefits to us joining together

There will be a free glass of wine or soft drink on arrival

There will be a beer promotion on the night

There will be a band playing for us after the meal

There will be a disco after the band

We will still have a separate Seniors presentation in the Sports bar after the meal, while the main club and Ladies present theirs trophies in the main venue, this was our decision to keep this separate.

The Seniors will also sit together on our own tables

Charlie Stockford  the Resort General Manager is very keen to have a joint event and presented to the Seniors committee the extras he was willing to provide if it was a joint event.

We felt that as part of the Witney Lakes Golf Club we should accept his proposal this year to give him the chance to show us the benefits of a joint event

The cost of the evening will be £22.50 per person

Wives, Girlfriends, partners are all welcome as usual. Last year we had 42 Seniors attend and I would like to see as many this year

All new members are doubly welcome, it is a great opportunity to mix with your comrades and partners and a chance to put on your glad rags

I should mention there is a new head chef Gavin who by all accounts is turning out some good meals

I am assured by Charlie Stockford that we can expect a good meal

Match Versus Meyrick Park 16^th October

The sign up sheet is up for the match against Meyrick Park on the 16^th October, I am waiting to hear from their captain to sort out final details

At present they are bringing 14 players from Bournemouth, the same as we took down there.

It will be a breakfast meal at 10.00 for £8

I expect the players who played in Bournemouth will want to repay the hospitality we received there.

To remind you the players were

AS this is a 2 tee start competition, the last tee off time for members playing the stableford roll up will be 9.00 am

Our esteemed Chairman has requested a Blue Red Yellow Tee competition.

So starting with the Blues on the first hole, Red on the second and yellows on the third and so on

The following week is the Ewart Chittey on the 9^th October

1. Open to all Male members of Witney Lakes Golf Club, aged 70yrs and over on the day of the competition, who hold an active/competition handicap.
2. Format – 18 Hole Stableford
3. Tees - Yellow
4. Handicap - Full
5. History - Named after Ewart Chittey, a long-time member of the Seniors and former committee secretary, this trophy is for veteran members only (those aged 70 or above). This is a stableford competition played in September or October.

However all players under 70 can play, but they cannot win the competition

MASTERS COMPETITION 11^th OCTOBER

Next Thursday is the Masters Competition for all the winners of main competitions this year.

I believe James has put this on the board, if you wish to enter please sign up , he will be running this competition as I am not available on the day.

No other competition will be organised for the 11^th October
