Good Evening Golfers.

A lovely autumn day on the course today, 24 played but we didn't hold the planned prize giving as the two tee start had been stopped due to a problem with the club booking system, so a big(ger) day at the end of October to finish everything off.
As you will have seen Rod is starting to organise the hand over dinner at the end of October and I know most of you will already have the AGM date in your diary.

So winners today
First with 42 points Malcolm Saunders and Graham Simpson won on count back from Ron Deacon and Roget Laban.

The Yellow Submarine collecting tin was used for the last time today and thank you for all your support over the year I'll get the money to Brian ASAP so we can find out how much we raised.

The Team for next Tuesday will be on the blog in the next 5 minutes and thanks to Paddy Marcks who will run the roll up

I have made the draw for the October Medal and that also will be on the blog very shortly

Bad News ( But not Ever So Bad)

Checking in at the club today I found we DO NOT have a 2 Tee start tomorrow.
There are various excuses as to why but it is too late to change so I am afraid the Tee times for tomorrow are now different.

It pains me to write it but I threw it away, just needed 2 points from the last two holes and got none.

So congratulations to Rod Rapley who won the Summer Stableford. We tied on best 3 scores but he won as his score for the next best game was 1 better than mine.

Todays result as below and Mike Smith the winner Of Summer Stableford Round 6 on countback. Another good contest and well done to all who played I will post a version of the total scores and rankings on the notice board Thursday.

I will add the pairings for Thursdays Game in the next 15 minutes

Some advance warnings of forthcoming activities

AGM
At 7.00 pm On Wednesday 25th October the AGM of the Seniors Section of Witney Lakes will be held in one of the meeting rooms at Witney Lakes.
I am delighted to announce that Tracy Longden, the new General Manager of Witney Lakes will be in attendance, to update us on the Club Company and to also take questions from the floor.
At the AGM there will be the opportunity to choose the members of the committee. There will be a list of the roles of the committee posted on the Seniors notice board, giving you the opportunity to become a member of the committee.

Presentation Evening
The presentation evening will be on Friday 27th October, when all of the winners of the various shields and cups will be honoured. Seniors and their wives, partners are all invited to attend
Further details will be posted on the Seniors notice board in the near future

Good Evening,

Shrivenham away Match

12 good men and true went into battle against Shrivenham today and were roundly beaten 6-0. Our second whitewash in a row after the defeat at West Berks.
The match features Bill Howard's second match for us and Tony Daley's first. It is aways good to see new faces appearing for the team.

The highlight of the day was John Watt's Hole in One at the 15th hole. John did the honourable thing and bought everyone a drink

Thursday Roll Up 21st September

17 players ventured out at Witney for a stableford competition today
With the reduced numbers there is only one division for this competition.
Therefore the winners were;

1st Paddy Marcks 36 Points
2nd  Martin Buckingham 34 points
3rd Dave Williams 32 points

Handicap reduction for Paddy to 20.1
Handicap increases for Ron Deacon & Brian Floyd both to 27.5 (28), Cliff Surman to 23.5 (24) and Alex Tyrell to 17.5 (18)

Summer Stableford timings to be posted in the Tee times shortly

Tuesday 19 September 2017

Good Afternoon all,

Stableford 19th September

I think the 26 golfers how played today will have enjoyed the weather and the condition of the course

The HowDidIDo update issued this afternoon, showed some inaccuracies.

In Division 1 the results are as follows

1st C. Hatherly 37 points
2nd Rod Rapley 36 points
3rd Andy Wright 35 pints.

If C. Hatherly (sorry I don't know your first name) can contact me at rod.rapley@jtiuk.com to advise if you would like your winnings to spend in Marks & Spencer or Yes Please Golf vouchers, we will arrange that for you. Also can you advise if you have provided your CDH number to Kevin Timms and Terry Edmunds to enable your scores to be entered onto the system, if not please let me know it what it is.

In Division 2 the results were

1st Alan Lake 33 points
2nd Bill Ford 31 points
3rd Ron Deacon 30 points

So although HowDidIDo, showed Roy Williams  winning with 35 points, this was incorrect as the points scored were added to the system not the gross score. Slapped wrist for whoever did that, Roy?

Can I ask everyone after they have entered their score onto the system to check it is correct with the card to avoid these types or errors

Stableford 14th September

A belated note of the winners from last Thursday when only 15 played, so there will only be one division for winnings

1st Paddy Marcks 38 points
2nd Stuart Green 35 points
3rd Doug Keen 34 points

These scores are not yet on HowDidIDo, although I did load them this afternoon, so hopefully they will be there soon

Thursday's Roll Up Stableford, Doug Keen has kindly agreed to run for us

12 of us will be playing a match against Shrivenham of Thursday

Monday 18 September 2017

Good morning

The team for the match against Shrivenham is posted in the matches section

Sunday 17 September 2017

Good Evening all

TUESDAY
There is a Roll Up on Tuesday, which will be a stableford competition.

THURSDAY
On Thursday we are away to Shrivenham and are 3 players short.

If anyone can help us put out a full team that would be much appreciated

I also need someone to run the roll up on Thursday, any volunteers?

THANKS to Brian Rollerson, Ron Feasey and Tony Daly who have stepped into the breach against Shrivenham

Tuesday 12 September 2017

I hope all you golfers had a nice day, I'm sitting in the sunshine in Colmar France just south of Strasbourg on the Swiss border.

Today Wilf Shirley Shield was won by Tony Ward with 38 points and second in division 1 was Dave Williams with 36
Division 2 was won by Bill Ford with 25 points and second with 24 points welcome back to Richard Gent

Handicap changes today were Tony Ward to 12 and Colin Baker and Alan Lake both to 22

Ain't technology wonderful !!!

Thursday 7 September 2017

So another medal full of controversy and strange scores. I NR'd because I lost my ball on the 13th an couldn't be bothered to go back and take another shot, but when we came to the end and totted up even with the penalty and extra stroke I would have been very close to winning division 1. A lesson I'm sure I will have forgotten by the next time I play.

So congratulations to Cliff Surman for winning the September medal, I marked his card and he played very well especially his putting, he hardly put a foot wrong on the greens, perhaps our outing at Oxford helped after all.

Just one handicap change Cliff is cut by 2 to 23

Monday 4 September 2017

I hope you all enjoyed our day in Oxford today. I simply couldn't handle the greens they were much too fast for me I couldn't get o them and I couldn't stay on them. I cant remember a day when on so many greens I was further from the hole after my first put than I had been before it.

So thanks to Malcolm for organising the day and congratulations to all our winners.

As I have said before I haven't organised anything for tomorrow but I believe the Tee times should still be reserved.

The Tee times for Thursdays medal will be on the blog in the next 10 minutes. There are less than normal signed up so I have left some gaps in the start sheet to allow for late entries. If there are no late entries then just play as you think best.
