Good Evening All.

Unfortunately Geoff Mills still isn't feeling well enough to play so I'm looking for a sub to play in his place Tuesday.

If more I get more than one offer I will try and add extra teams.

Update
Thanks to Alan Lake who will take Geoffs place

Thursday 26 October 2017

So what about that weather, I don't think that's what the weatherman promised us, I want it looked into.
I am going to have to go to putting school or get the holes made bigger, today I was quite pleased when I three putted, every hole was a struggle to hole out.
So congratulations to Martin Buckingham and Doug Keen who were todays winners and both got cut as a consequence, that does make me feel a bit better.

I'll post next Tuesdays start times on the Tee time Sheet in the next 10 minutes

Tuesday 24 October 2017

gentlemen I hope you all enjoyed the "match" today. There were 36 playing in 9 matches and it all came down to the last match on the course who carried off a win for the captains team. The final result 5 to 4.

I have made the draw for Thursdays Winter Stableford Round 1, a few changes from earlier in the day as several people signed up today, the start times will be on the tee time page very soon.

The game is likely to be a qualifying game as today the tees were still on the measured course. If that changes I will let you know.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you at tomorrows AGM as possible.

Good afternoon,

For those attending the Presentation Evening, I firstly thank you for your support, it is appreciated that you have made the time to attend and keep the Witney Seniors club spirit going.

Thanks
Rod
Good Morning Golfers

Thanks to all for putting your cards into the magic electric box yesterday even though it was a non qualifier ( I kept it like that as a reflection of the greens maintenance).
Having the cards in the system means I dont have to worry about waiting around and sorting them out, unfortunately I went home  nodded off and forgot to do anything about the result.

So here it is in full

We will have a Roll Up Team game on Thursday (tomorrow already) and I will pin up a start sheet in the changing rooms  some time today

Good Evening Golfers

Another lovely day today, a great day for a walk, unfortunately whacking a little white ball around for 4 hours got a little bit dispiriting today. I normally struggle putting and when I saw the state of the greens I thought well everyone will be in the same boat as me on the greens today. Probably true but as a compensating factor my chipping was diabolical, so no real advantage.

Due to the maintenance work the greens  were bad and after the game we discussed that this had happened the last few years for the Masters so we will look at moving the date forward next year to try and avoid it.

Congratulations to Peter Burdon for putting together a winning round today, Peter seems to keep his best golf for these big occasions while the rest of us struggle to keep our game together.

Next week we have two Roll Ups and I will set up an Individual Stableford for Tuesday but I wont take a decision on whether its a qualifier or not until we see the state of the greens. Thursday we will have a team game as we havent had one for some time.

Tuesday 10 October 2017

Another Autumn day, it felt like November but with leaves on the trees.
The greens obviously made it difficult today but hopefully everyone enjoyed it.
A complex day because not all were qualified to play and some of those who werent still put cardsin, but I think I have sorted it all out.
So winner of the Ewart Chitty memorial was Doug Keen on 37 points beating Rae Comley on Countback.
Third was John Alexander with 36 points ahead of Martin Buckingham also on Countback

So handicap increases as below there were no handicap reductions
Starters for the masters on Thursday will be on the blog soon, I have not heard from everyone about their availability so I have made some educated ? guesses. If anyone can see what I have got wrong let me know asap
I have left time before the masters empty so that anyone who wants to roll up and play early can use those slots

Friday 6 October 2017

Just a brief reminder about the Seniors AGM of the evening of the 25th October. We are looking for your nominations for the roles on the committee and any points you want to raise.

You can of course raise whatever you want at the meeting but it might be more productive if you let James Barnatt or any committee member know in advance.

With the same thought in in mind Tracy Langdon the new Witney Lakes General Manager will be attending the meeting and if you want to raise any questions or points with her let me know and I will make sure she is informed and so able to give us a fuller answer.

Dont forget the Handover Dinner and Prize Giving on the Friday the 27th a list with the menu choices is on the seniors notice board, ask any committee member about the evening and get signed up as soon as you can

Thursday 5 October 2017

Next Week we have the Ewert Chitty memorial and the start ist will be on the Tee time blog in the next 5 minutes and the Masters. The eligability list is as below and I need you to confirm if you will be playing by next Tuesday if possible. James will post a sheet on the notice board this weekend please look at it as soon as you can.

Also notices will be appearing re the AGM and Handover Dinner in the next day or so, (just as soon as I work out exactly whats happening). Again watch the notice boards

A lot of notices to bring to your attention in the next few days, rather than confuse everyone totally I will try and keep them as separate as I can.

First Todays Result.

On a really pleasant Autumn day  (if you ignored the wind) a good game of golf but with poor scoring on the whole, The winner of the October Medal congratulations to Alan Lake.

I notice that even with the poor scoring many (all?) handicaps didn't change I'm not sure why I will try and check it out.

Seniors KO Competition

After a hard fought match which ebbed and flowed, it went down to the last putt on the 18th green, where Rod Rapley beat Alan Lake

In case any of you missed the notification on the signage by the first tee, it is now Winter Rules

Tuesday 3 October 2017

Last match of the year  and what a lovely day. we played Banbury and its a new fixture with this the first time they have visited us. A good win for us 4 to 2 and as my ears were blocked all the way round I couldn't hear any complaints so it must have been good.

Thanks to all the members who supported the matches this year, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.

22 in the roll up today thanks to Paddy for hosting it all and really pleased to see that now Stuart and Chris finally have their handicaps live on the system they are going to win all the matches.

Finally lots of changes to the start sheet for Thursdays Medal so I have reprinted the sheet and put a new post on the blog

See you all Thursday
