I spent 45 minutes today entering the scores from Tuesday 25th
Two things to think about.
1 I dont want to do this for every Individual Stableford that I'm not at the club for, it would be very easy to set up so people can do their own scores on the day all it needs is for someone to be available at the club to switch on the V1 program on the computer in the little office. It really is very simple , any volunteers?
2 I have found a way to show the changes to playing handicap, there were lots of small changes to exact handicap but a surprisingly small amount of changes to playing handicap

So yesterdays prize giving as recorded live
First John Alexander receiving the Invotec trophy from June
Second Peter Burdon receiving the quadruple accolade of Seniors Club Championships Gross and Nett plus the Bill Graves over 70's trophy PLUS the July Bandit of the Month award. How is anyone going to follow that.
And Last but not least the man who snuck into the two pictues above and despite a cut in handicap and another threatened seemed to average 40+ points for the last few weeks Mike "Pancho" Dawson
also just to comment that the August Medal start sheet will be on the Tee Time page in the next few minutes

So thank You to all that turned out today to play in the July prize giving greensomes
26 played and first were Peter Burdon and Geoff Mills with 67 and a close second Barry Lund and Kevin Timms with 68.
Lots of things came out of the meeting and I will make a partial report now and post the prize winners information over the weekend.
Also over the weekend I will load the results from last Tuesday into the computer and see what handicap adjustments there are, if I can find a way I will post the changes on this blog. I'll try and do it by Sunday
The team for the match for Bicester is now on the matches page and the information on start time is a bit different from what I had earlier.
Coffee available from 8:30, breakfast at 9:00 and first tee 10:00, so all a bit more civilised than I thought.
I will also generate the start times for the open over the week end and am trying to get that published Monday.
Don't forget Glyn is collecting raffle prizes as fast as he can, its always been a terrific effort in the past so I'm hoping we can come up trumps again this year

So 27 played yesterday in ideal conditions with Ideal scores being posted.
Division 1 was won by Roger Laban with 41 points and second Doug Keen with 40
Division 2 won by Mike Dawson (again) with 42 points and second Steve Aldren with 38.
I'll talk to our handicap Secretaries about how we should treat these excellent scores achieved on a measured course as was the case yesterday. Perhaps we need a Seniors Rule that all scores over 36 must be entered for handicapping purposes.
We won our match against Radley 5 to 1 and once again there was some very good gold played, all bodes well for the next few weeks.
I will be looking at tee times for the Open Pairs this weekend and I know there are still a couple of forms to hand in but it looks like we will have around 40 pairs playing on the day with quite a lot of visitors (around 50).
I will post the tee times for tomorrows greensomes on the tee time page in the next 10 minutes.

So another exciting golf week is upon us, we have a team for the match Tuesday (posted today by Rod)and thanks to all of you who volunteered for an enjoyable game of golf in good company followed by a roast dinner and all for £13. Tough work but someone has to do it.
Gerry has once again offered to run the roll up and after Ron Deacon stole the glory at the last minute he has decided to try his hand at an individual stableford. The start sheet will be in the changing rooms tomorrow.
On Thursday we have prize giving an I am planning a greensomes 4 ball. If you want to play any KO games let me know by Tuesday.
The KO draw is up to date thanks to Alan Lake The semi final should be played by the end of August and the final end of September, up to you on the exact timings of this round but we are looking fairly comfortable.

The weather certainly changed during the morning. Started wet and cold and windy finished in pleasant sunshine but still windy.
A couple of people were almost caught out today because the automatic handicap updates from How Did I Do don't seem to be working reliably, I'm afraid you need to check on the notice board occasionally or risk being out of date. Luckily we caught today's issues in time but definitely one to be careful of, I will try and get to the bottom of whats going wrong.
Also today yet another appeal for people to play in the home match next Tuesday against Radley, its a long standing fixture and we enjoy going there but we need to get a tem at home as well so I need 3 volunteers asap please
Info on the Seniors Open scheduled for the 8th August will follow separately soon
Round 4 of the Summer stableford results below. I will update the cumulative scores on a spreadsheet and put it on the noticeboard early next week. I'm told by the people he played with that the winner was definitely advised to enter tonight's Lottery while his luck holds

I'm now getting the results for the roll up from Gerry by text, technology aint it wonderful.
So 22 played today
Winner Div 1 Alex Tyrell 14 points 2nd Mike Smith 15
Winner Div 2 Ron Deacon 13 points 2nd Gerry Collier 16
We lost heavily at Drayton 5 to 1 and the 1 we won one guy didn't turn up, (lots of different ones in that sentence did you notice). The course was in good condition and the greens fast and true, the two guys me and Malcolm played were red hot, the one we were giving 4 shots to got 22 points on the front nine, hard to beat.
Oh dear
Anyway Summer Stableford on Thursday hopefully without the thunder

Sorry for the lateness of this blog. All day baby sitting in Essex with No Internet. The things we do for our families.
So Tomorrow is Erics game hosted again by Gerry, the sign up sheet is in the changing room.
For the match tomorrow two small changes
First Tee is 10:30 not 10:00 and dress code is smart casual or \\\jacket and Tie, I guess that means you cant be both.
See You All
ps Dont forget Thursday is the official closing date for the Charity Open

So not very busy at the Lakes yesterday, only 9 in the Roll Up I guess the week has taken its toll on some of our wider travelling members.
Anyway the day won by Gerry Collier with 38 points from Mike Smith with 36.
Once again we had a very enjoyable day against Kirtlington with honours shared 3 all.
I played with Mike Dawson and everything I've heard about his form lately is true. Next match my partner is Malcolm Saunders lets see how far he can carry me.
Next match next Tuesday away to Drayton. The team is posted on the blog and the Sports Bar notice board. Also on the Tee time sheet will be the start times for next Thursdays Summer Stableford round 4.
There will be a roll up at the club as usual on Tuesday details to be sorted over the next two days.
I have been making final arrangements for the Seniors Open and all we need now is your entry forms and your raffle prizes. Officially entries close Thursday 20th July (this Thursday).

Talking to Gerry it was not a great day for weather yesterday but with some great scores.
22 played and division 1 was won by Doug Keen on countback from Peter McNamara, both with 37 points.
In division 2 the winner was Mike Dawson ( who coincidentally is my playing partner for tomorrows match) with 42 points from Alan Jones with 41.
Really great scores so well done to all. Tomorrow is another roll up run by Gerry and a match against Kirtlington, the team for next Tuesdays away match at Drayton will be on the blog in the next 10 minutes.
Happy Golfing to All

I have just posted Thursdays team on the matches page and look forward to seeing you all then.
Also looking at the calendar today I realised that the Seniors open is only just over 4 weeks away, so time to get going on the preparation for that.
Any raffle prizes or sponsorship gratefully received in the next 4 weeks but before that your entries please. Entries close in 2 weeks so get them in as soon as you can and lets make it a great day for our charity and all our participants

Another busy week coming up with a group touring in Wales Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and the Burford open Thursday.
We have a home match Thursday with Kirtlington and its been difficult getting a team but I have managed to twist a few arms and beg a few favours and we now have a team. However a couple of our players are going to a lot of trouble to be available and if you can play they will be very happy to step down. Let me know by Tuesday.
I am away at a Seniors Charity Open on Tuesday and Gerry Collier will run the roll up which will be an individual Stableford for those not playing in the KO.
I suggest if you want a slot for the KO you come along and take one around 9:00 or soon after, the sign up sheet will be in the changing rooms Monday.

Sorry for the delay in posting todays result but for some reason the computer at the Lakes wouldn't give us a cumulative result for the two rounds
So using the scores I have for the people playing both rounds the results are as below. I will print a copy and post it on the notice board tomorrow.
So Congratulations to Peter Burdon winner of Gross and Nett competitions I have to check on the Bill Graves result.
we will pay prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd Nett scores in both divisions. Thanks to all who made it round today and once again congratulations to Peter

So a tight round today several people still in the hunt for both gross and nett competitions.
The tee times for Thursday will be posted in the next 5 minutes. So here we are I'm sure you're all having your rub down and half time oranges before reentering the fray.
So back to my normal plea for Team Members for Thursday 13th at home against Kirtlington I'm still 4 short so let me know if you can play.

Before you all get engrossed in Wimbledon just a reminder that the really big sporting event this week starts tomorrow at the Lakes. The start sheet is pinned up in the changing rooms and we're all ready to go. Some drop outs and some extras so some times have changed by a few minutes so worth a check
